Mishing means "man of worthiness." The Miri are a scheduled tribe in northeastern Indian states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
They are also called Mishing. They speak a Tibeto-Burman language and Hindi.
Cultivation and fishing are their main work. They also work as day laborers in agriculture.
They have cross-cousin marriages. The bereaved can marry again. They bury their dead away from their villages.
They eat all meats except beef. Their houses are built on stilts. They have a community council to look after their interests.
They are Hindus by religion. The Mishing are also animists.
Like all other peoples of the world, this people group needs the blessings and guidance that only Jesus Christ can offer.
Pray that the caste council leaders will come to Jesus Christ and lead others to him.
Pray that Indian Christians will make disciples who will make more disciples.
Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
Scripture Prayers for the Miri in India.
